Premier Gettysburg Battlefield Tours

Happy Tour Takers

The Gettysburg Batttlefield is much larger than most people expect -- more than 10,000 acres -- and it is criss-crossed by more than 40 miles of battlefield avenues. There are more than 1,450 monuments, markers and plaques on the field.

Take a look at our
Gettysburg Battlefield Places and Stories page for a sample of what Gettysburg is all about.

Our Gettysburg tours will give you a clear understanding of what happened here, why it happened here and why Gettysburg is so important in American history.

You'll see all the important places and you'll see them in a sequence that makes it much easier to understand everything. These Gettysburg tours are the highlight of any visit to this hallowed battlefield.

Our Premier Gettysburg Tour is a comprehensive battlefield tour lasting about 2 & 1/2 hours. We take you to all the famous places and provide you with a clear explanation of the events that took place here.

This tour makes two stops: The first is at the location where Abraham Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address and the second is at Little Round Top, site of one of the Battle's most famous chapters and a stunningly beautiful prominence providing a panoramic view of almost the entire battlefield.

Our Classic Buses

Battlefield Tour Bus

For our Premier Battlefield Tour, you'll ride in one of our classic 17-passenger Yellowstone Park Buses and enjoy the special attention that is only available when you are part of such a small group.

Believe me, the small group size makes a huge difference and you'll love it.

We also have a fleet of modern mid-sized buses and we use these sometimes if the weather is especially troublesome. They are also available for larger charter groups.

Gettysburg's Greatest Stories Tour

Old Town Tour

If we weren't so politically correct, we'd say that women absolutely love this tour (it focuses on human interest stories rather than military tactics). But we are just so PC that we won't say that. We'll just say that everybody absolutely loves this tour.

Come along on one of our classic Yellowstone Park buses for an hour-long ride through the streets of Old Town Gettysburg. You'll hear fascinating true stories about some of the extraordinary people who lived here during the great battle (and at other times).

The Town of Gettysburg (population 7,500) sits right smack in the middle of the Battlefield and there was tremendous fighting right through the streets of the town on the first day of the battle. The Confederates had the upper hand that day and the town fell under Rebel occupation.

History buffs will note that this was the last time an American city or town has been occupied by an invading army.

This tour is an absolute "must" for those of you (women and men) who have been to Gettysburg several times and are convinced that you know "everything there is" about the Battle of Gettysburg (it's usually men who think that).

If that sounds like a challenge to all you Civil War Nuts, you're right.

Surrounded by the stunning elevations of Bolivar Heights, Maryland Heights and Loudoun Heights, the strategic little town changed hands eight times during the war.

We'll take you from Gettysburg to the Visitor Center at Harpers Ferry in just over an hour to begin your tour, including the building where John Brown was captured.

After touring the town, you'll be free to have lunch on your own at any of the local eateries and we'll then reboard our bus at 1:00 pm and head north for the fourteen-mile trip to Sharpsburg, Maryland and the famous Antietam Battlefield, scene of the bloodiest one-day battle in the entire Civil War (23,000 casualties).

We'll stop at the Antietam Visitor Center and then proceed on our tour through the Battlefield itself with stops at all the famous landmarks: Burnside Bridge, Bloody Lane, Dunker Church, The Cornfield......and more.

We'll then head for home and arrive back in Gettysburg at about 5:30 pm.
